Hypnosis sounds mystical but is simply a state of deep mental and physical relaxation. This state is often described as ‘trance’ and I help you to achieve this, usually through gradual, progressive relaxation. Once in hypnosis, you will remain aware of your surroundings and will be free to open your eyes should you choose. Despite what you may have seen on TV, hypnosis is a choice and you are in complete control - nobody can hypnotise you against your will.
Most of our day is spent in ‘thinking mode,’ where our conscious mind processes information logically, but when we sleep, daydream or get creative ideas, we tap into our unconscious or ‘feeling’ side. Sometimes however, our logical thoughts come into conflict with our inner feelings and we try applying ‘reason’ to determine our decisions or behaviour, but ultimately our feelings always control our actions.
This is why making changes or breaking old patterns can be hard. When you are in hypnosis, I can speak to your unconscious mind to help you release upsetting emotions and accept positive suggestions, allowing you to make the changes that you want to feel and see.
